Marsh Dental Surgery advice on Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak
Dear Patient,
I am writing to provide an update on the ongoing pandemic and its impact on dentistry.
As you will be aware covid-19 has had a countrywide impact and dentistry is no exception. The latest advice from the local health board is to continue in the amber phase of alert- this allows us to see all patients to treat urgent and non-urgent problems. This may include toothache, broken fillings, lost crowns etc. We are no longer limited to what treatment we can carry out. We are following the latest advice on personal protective equipment to allow us to carry out aerosol generating procedures such as fillings etc.
I would like to reassure you that we are open and happy to help in any way we can. Please contact the surgery for an appointment if you have a dental problem but don’t attend without an appointment. Current advice from the local health board is not to begin routine dental examinations in order to limit the chance of exposure in shared public areas.
You may be contacted by a dentist to get further information about the problem. You will be asked about your general health. Any appointments will be scheduled to minimize contact in shared areas and minimize waiting times. The measures in place may seem dramatic but the health board is trying its utmost to reduce transmission within the community, protect patients and protect staff members.
We are uncertain at this time how long these measures will last but hopefully we will able to return to normal service as soon as possible. A record of postponed appointments has been kept so all appointments can be rescheduled.
If you have any questions please contact the surgery and I really appreciate your understanding at this demanding time.
Dr Steven Marsh
